Translate: The school has started, which is great ! Last Friday I went to the children's school for a meeting between parents, teachers and students . The school system is different here from what I'm used to. Here in the states, students get new classes and new teachers every year, so Friday was a big day for my host children. The whole school was crowded with people. We had to sign up every child in their classes, and we had to meet their new teacher and classmates. On Monday, it was the first day of school, and we walked to the school together. All the classes were lined up in the schoolyard. Parents were everywhere, even the parents to the children who just had to continue their education. Everything went well and the kids had a good first day. Each morning I follow the kids to school with my hostmom and also pick them up in the afternoon. If the children don't ride the school bus home, the parents will wait outside the school to pick them up. No one goes alone. It's all about safety here. It is nice that the school is going, so I do not have the kids around all the time, but have some time for myself during the day too. The last few days I have spent time with other au pairs during my time off. Tuesday I went to IHOP (International House of Pancakes ) for breakfast with three German girls. It was really cozy and the food was delicious. I got pancakes with strawberries and banana, and I really tried to throw the idea of 780 calories out of my head and enjoy it instead. Today I met a German girl named Anna for lunch, and tonight I have been at an Italian restaurant with another German au pair Stephanie. After good food and great music, we got a frozen yogurt. Yes ..... I know that it sounds like we 're eating all the time. Mother has already asked about it. As I have previously pointed out, we are going out a lot - for breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee. It's very different than what I'm used to in Denmark. The food is also very different and not nearly as healthy as at home. This gives me good reason to go to the gym, and I try as much as possible to do the gym four times a week. It is important for me to get out and do something in my time off. Especially because my home is my workplace too. The last few days have been long and demanding. I have cared for children at night because of a school meeting, and because the parents have been out for dinner. The father had several business trips the last two weeks, so I had to work more. That's why it's great to meet up with other girls in my time off, and do some stuff away from the house. As you can see on the pictures I went to the gym, had eaten a lot and played hairdresser with my little host girl.
